Design and Implementation of Buffers, Setbacks, Corridors, and Greenways

Detailed presentations of the science behind concepts for buffers, setbacks, corridors, and greenways used to protect biodiversity and waters of the U.S. Explore the use of simple models for estimating buffer widths for protecting water quality, as well as simulation approaches using GIS to estimate the financial and biological impacts of alternative buffer regulations. Gain an understanding of how other jurisdictions throughout the U.S. and Canada are using buffers as a tool to better protect species, ecosystem services, and functions. Lecture notes are provided.
