Difficult Wetland Situations with Emphasis on Hydric Soils

3 Days - $780

Problematic situations require additional expertise to evaluate and resolve. This course offers in-depth information on recognizing, documenting, and analyzing problematic vegetation and soils, and difficult situations for wetland hydrology. It will include discussions on hydric soil indicators and circumstances when they are naturally absent. Completion of a 36-hour delineation class is recommended. At each course location the focus will be on the problematic situations in that region and the neighboring region(s). Emphasis will be placed on delineating plowed and grazed fields, wood lots, and other managed landscapes using a combination of case studies and field data. Time will be divided equally between field and lecture. Lecture notes, Pocket Guide to Hydric Soil Field Indicators, and a CD containing the current Regional Supplements and other publications will be provided.

Instructor pool: Scoles, Newling, and Teaford.
