Coursework correlated well with field studies, level of difficulty appropriately described. Information will be very useful, indication lists/explanations helpful for troubleshooting. Allowing group discussions was the key to the success of this course. Christina San Rafael, CA |

The
course offers in-depth information on hydric soils beyond the Basic Wetland
Delineation course. It focuses on understanding the wetland-upland interface
in soils, plus application of the hydric soil indicators used by the
Regional Supplements (NRCS Field Indicators of Hydric Soils). In addition,
it covers the problematic soil situations presented in the Regional
Supplements. Completion of a basic wetland delineation course is strongly
recommended. Oriented towards wetland delineation for consultants and
regulators, the course is also applicable to wetland restoration and
mitigation. This course consists of one-third lecture and two-third field
exercises, and each session will emphasize the Regional Supplement(s)
appropriate for the class vicinity. Lecture notes,
Pocket Guide to Hydric Soil
Field Indicators,
and a CD containing the current Regional Supplements and other publications
will be provided. Instructor pool: Scoles and Newling. |
