Dr. Mohlenbrock was excellent! I feel privileged to have been able to take this training with him. His knowledge is quite impressive! All of our time was spent in the field which is the best way to learn. Dr. Mohlenbrock’s methodology helps one retain the knowledge gleaned." Matt Detroit, MI |

| This
is a field class on the identification
of plants that commonly occur in a variety of different wetlands in the
region where the class is scheduled, with emphasis on plants of the
wetland/non-wetland interface. Learn general plant identification principles
and diagnostic field characteristics of each species to enable ready
distinction between species with very similar appearances. Many of these
characteristics are in addition to those noted in field guides. Although
all plants encountered during the class will be covered, major emphasis will
be on grasses, sedges, rushes, and the aster family. Class in March will
have special emphasis on spring grasses and sedges. Class in
September-October will have special emphasis on fall grasses and sedges, as
well as members of the aster family. Local-specific plant lists are
provided.
Instructors: Mohlenbrock*, Newling and Cooke**. |
