The
Corps has been releasing a series of Regional Supplements to the 1987
Wetland Delineation Manual. By 2010, they will be required for conducting
wetland delineations for Clean Water Act purposes in most of the nation.
This seminar is designed for wetland delineators already trained in the 1987
Manual who want to get specifics on how to use the Regional Supplements and
how their fieldwork will be affected.
Lectures include background on the Supplements, differentiation between "regions," explanation and comparison of changes, understanding of problematic situations, review of the new field indicators of hydric soils and hydrology, examples, and opportunity for discussion. The Field Practicum provides experience and practical application of the new indicators and procedures. Participants will apply the vegetation indicators, describe redoximorphic features, use field indicators of hydric soils, and document wetland hydrology, using the appropriate regional data form. Participants will receive Lecture Notes, a Pocket Guide to Hydric Soil Field Indicators, and a CD with the available Regional Supplements, version 6.0 of the NRCS Field Indicators of Hydric Soils, National List of Plant Species that Occur in Wetlands. Class ends at 5:00 P.M each day. Instructor pool: Newling, R. Pierce, Scoles, Teaford, Whited. |

An Agenda provided here for the Regional Supplement Seminar and Field Practicum course is from a previous course. While drastic changes are not anticipated, due to the changing nature of what the instructors feel is critical to teach, please be aware that the topics covered in the agenda may not be exactly what will be covered in a future course.
