Wetland Mitigation, Construction, and Installation

This course on wetland restoration, creation, and enhancement covers the entire process. It is a combination of lectures and field visits to local mitigation sites.  Detailed topics include: project goal determination including performance standards; landscape evaluation; functional evaluation including wildlife habitat component; hydrologic regime modeling including grading, inlet/outlet design, and plant community selection; soils evaluation and augmentation; reference site evaluation and selection; installation including specification sheets, bidding, and installation techniques; reporting including baseline and as-built conditions; long-term maintenance; and monitoring.  The last day is spent in groups running a hypothetical project through the process.
