How Does This Course Work?

Advanced Hydrology for Jursidictional Determinations is an entirely online course and includes 24 contact hours of lecture. It provides in-depth treatment of the principles, concepts, and methods essential for working with disputed jurisdictional boundaries. Go beyond basic wetland hydrology and hydrologic indicators. Policy topics include: wetlands, other waters, ordinary high water marks, and “Significant Nexus.” Technical concepts include: saturation, porosity, Darcy’s law, hydraulic conductivity, permeability, infiltration, use of climate records, calculation of runoff, groundwater observation well installation, well data analysis, stream flow analysis, rating curves, and the effects of drainage by streams, ditches, and tiles. Participants will receive a printed copy of Lecture Notes and a thumb drive of essential electronic resources. A discussion forum is available to ask questions, view and post additional material, and interact with other participants.

You can begin your online lectures anytime after December 9. Your printed and electronic course materials should arrive in the mail within about a week. You can review online lectures anytime until November 30th (online course close date).

Can I view lectures at my own pace?

Yes! You can view and review lectures as many times you wish until your course closes. All online courses close on November 30th each year.

Can I have face to face interation with Instructor

No, this is an online self paced course. However, you are free to contact the instructor via our course discussion board, or if needed, the direct messaging system from the member’s area.

Does this course count towards my certification program?

Your certificate of completion can be used to document instructional hours received in this topic.
