This live, Zoom-based course is designed for wetland delineators and others who need to accurately identify sedges (Cyperaceae), grasses (Poaceae), and rushes (Juncaceae) in the field. The course features 15–30 fresh and dried specimens collected from wetlands and nearby areas, which are shipped to participants ahead of time for hands-on study during and after class. Students receive a detailed class notebook covering reproductive and vegetative terminology, a color image booklet of class specimens, and dissection tools including a millimeter ruler, needles, and a razor knife. The course is applicable nationwide, including in Alaska, and provides valuable training in the identification of challenging monocot groups critical to wetland delineation work. More Information
