Woody Plant Identification on March 26 – 28, 2025

This three-day course provides practical skills to identify woody plants, focusing on non-gymnosperm species during their non-leafy “winter” condition, regardless of geographic location. Taught live online, participants receive plant specimens collected by Dr. Thomasson to use as references throughout the course. Instruction covers key vegetative features of twigs, stems, and bark, along with how to use woody plant technical keys and online resources. Course materials include a detailed notebook with labeled color images, dissecting needles, a razor knife, and a ruler for hands-on learning.
